Dear Parents,
I am so excited to have your children in my class!! We are on the road to a fantastic start! Here is some information that I would like to share with you:
Homework:
There will be a study guide posted on the website that will have your child's Bible Memory Verse (BMV), Spelling words, and Math Facts for the upcoming week. I will also send home a paper copy each week with a piece of notebook lined paper. Please have your child copy his/her Bible Memory Verse and Spelling words 2x's each on the lined paper that will be in his/her Special Delivery Folder and return the copied homework to school in the Folder on the next school day. Your child only needs to study the math facts, but can copy them for extra credit if they wish.
Your child will have Reading Homework on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Please initial the Reading Bookmark and return it in the Reading Book and Folder on the next school day. If there is a holiday or special event (such as Back-to-School Night, SAT's, etc.) I will put a note on the cubbies or send a note home to let you know that the homework has been cancelled that night.
Test Schedules:
Wednesday, Sept. 8th- Math Fact +Speed Drill Tests
Thursday, Sept. 9th- Math, Phonics, + Spelling Pre-tests
Friday, September 10th- Spelling, Bible Memory Verse, Handwriting Tests
Lunch:
There will be hot lunch offered all week. If your child still had lunch tickets left over from last year, please go to the office to see Mrs. Schutz (Miss Tiffany) to get credit added to your child's new lunch cards. Hot lunch is now $3.50. Your child may bring a cold lunch, but there will be NO warm-ups. If your child needs a spoon for his/her lunch, please put one in his/her lunch pail. Milk will be available for 50 cents.
P.E. :
We will be having P.E. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. Please have your child wear tennis shoesw that fit properly and clothing that can get dirty during these activities. If your child has been sick or injured at home (sprained ankle, etc.), please send in a note for Coach Zepeda stating the reason why he/she is missing P.E. Let us know if your child has any allergies/asthma that may affect him/her performance. Children needing inhalers must have a medical form signed in the school office and should have their inhalers in the office to use if needed.
School Safety:
Please sign your child in and out every day. Please slow down in the school parking lots. Please make sure that all gates are securely closed after you have gone in/out of the campus.
Please remember to come to Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 7th, at 6:30 p.m. We will all be meeting in the Chapel first for a few general announcements and then you will be dismissed to your child's classrooms. I will have some information for you and will go over my classroom discipline plan and homework. This meeting is for adults only, so please do not bring your children because there will be no one to care for them.
