Ms. Matheny's First Grade Class - Room 8

My name is Ms. Michele Matheny and I am a First grade teacher at FCCA.  This will be a great year with lots of learning and fun activities to help set that firm foundation for their success in life.  I would like to take this opportunity to let you know a little bit about myself.

For the past thirteen years I have worked at FCCA as a preschool teacher's aid, preschool teacher, and Kindergarten teacher, and now a first grade teacher.  All my life I have known that I wanted to be a teacher.  Most  of my family has worked in the education field.  From music teacher to a P.E. teacher, and principal to school bus driver, they have all taught me the importance of discipline to become a teacher.  I started out my education wanting to be a special education teacher and changed to a deaf communication major.  In the process of deciding what my major would be, I fell in love with teaching preschool.  My major then changed to elementary education.  The Lord led me to this school and has blessed me with meeting so many wonderful families.  Not only is this my job, but it is also my family.

This will be my first year teaching First grade after teaching Kindergarten for five years.  Many of you I have already grown the love and I can't wait to meet those who are new to the school.  Parents are the most important part in a child's life and we need to work together for the benefit of your child.  Newsletters will be sent home every week letting you know what is going on in the class.  If you have any questions or concerns about the class, your calls are always welcomed.  I am looking forward to a great year!

Blessings, Ms. Michele Matheny
